Nádvirág Vendégház (Nr. 27) is a thatched, detached country house in the quiet part of Vonyarcvashegy on the western shore of Lake Balaton, for up to 4 guests – with its own shady, fenced garden, an above-ground cooling pool, a covered terrace and dog-friendly features. You are the only guests on the plot.

🏡 Character & interior
An old Hungarian country house with a thatched (reed) roof and roughly 70 cm thick adobe-and-stone walls – historic character with a comfortable, normal ceiling height. The furnishing deliberately mixes new and old: a newer kitchen unit, a new dining table and a new Göcsej-patterned bed alongside older pieces, decorative tile stoves and retro details such as a wide, sprung vintage sofa. A lovable, well-kept, characterful retreat – not a flawlessly modern designer home.
The single-storey house has a spacious bedroom with a double bed (quality Cardo mattresses) and a single bed; a further single bed in the living-dining area is the fourth sleeping place. Ideal for couples and small families. TV: conventional flat-screen. Channels: digital terrestrial (DVB-T) reception, a few Hungarian channels, no German-language programming. 🍳 Kitchen & comfort
The open kitchen connects to the dining area through a wide passage: 4-burner gas hob, microwave, fridge with small freezer, kettle, toaster, a mobile electric oven (usable on the terrace too), plus a stovetop pot and a Tchibo automatic machine for freshly ground beans. No dishwasher.
The bathroom has a shower (80×80 cm), WC and washbasin; there is also a separate guest WC accessed from the yard. A top-loading washing machine is a real plus for families, beach holidays or arriving with a dog. Every room has mosquito nets. Wi-Fi is available. For the little ones: travel cot, baby bath, high chair.
🌳 Garden, terrace & outdoors
The greatest strength is the private, fenced, shady garden full of trees, shrubs and flowers – a green, sheltered retreat. It includes a covered terrace (approx. 10–11 m²) with dining for 4, a thatched seating nook with benches and table, three sun loungers, and grill and kettle-goulash facilities. The garden is lovingly maintained – the owner lives nearby and waters the flowers in the evenings during dry spells, but does not stay on the plot.
💦 Above-ground cooling pool
In the yard there is an above-ground pool (diameter approx. 3 m, water depth approx. 70 cm, unheated) – not a swimming pool but an extra for cooling off in summer, especially for children and families. Usable roughly from mid-May to mid-September depending on the weather. Children may use the pool only under parental supervision.

🐶 Dog-friendly
The fenced, shady garden and the quiet, natural surroundings make the house a good choice for guests with a dog. 1 dog on prior notice; 2 dogs by arrangement; large dogs only with the owner’s approval. Please bring your own dog bed. There is a dog beach in Keszthely (approx. 8 km).

How do I book?
For a confirmed booking a 30% deposit usually applies, deducted from the total on final payment; last-minute bookings may differ. Booking is by email.
Are we alone on the plot?
Yes. You have the detached house and garden to yourselves. The owner lives nearby and occasionally tends the garden in the evenings but does not stay on the plot.
Is the house dog-friendly?
Yes. 1 dog on prior notice (€7/night), 2 dogs by arrangement, large dogs only with the owner’s approval. A refundable deposit of €150 applies when arriving with a dog. Please bring your own dog bed.
Is there air conditioning?
No. The thick adobe-and-stone walls, the thatched roof and the shady garden naturally help keep the interior cooler in summer; a fan and mosquito nets are provided.
What kind of pool is it?
An above-ground pool (Ø approx. 3 m, approx. 70 cm water depth, unheated) for cooling off – ideal for children, not a swimming pool. Usable roughly mid-May to mid-September depending on the weather.
How far is the beach?

Good to know – prices & conditions
- Listed prices are per night, as shown in the table. Adjustments – up or down – are only possible after prior agreement and only before a confirmed booking, e.g. for special requests or individual arrangements.
- Included in the price: utilities (except heating), final cleaning, tourist tax, plus fresh bed linen every 7 days and one hand and bath towel per person (beach towels excluded).
- Surcharges (disclosed in advance): heating by arrangement; pets €7/night (only by arrangement); short stays 1–4 nights: +40% / +30% / +20% / +10% (no surcharge from 5 nights).
- To confirm a booking: 30% deposit, deducted from the total on final payment.
- Deposit (refundable): €150 – only when arriving with a dog.
- Payment in euro; in forint at the current exchange rate of the Hungarian National Bank (MNB).
